September Faves

Hey Guys! Watdheckk it's Glen,

If your going to ask me, what month do I most anticipates, That month will be the month of SEMPTEMBER!. In our filipino culture Christmas season is not just only on the month of December but there's a whole 4 months of our Christmas season, that is why Philippines holds the title for "World's Longest Christmas Celebration", its start whenever "Ber months" starts which is September the start of "Ber" months, its from September up until January 6 "The Feast Empiphany". That one of my reason why I anticipate the arrival of September.
Besides from it starts the Christmas season, there are upcoming events , upcoming movies I must watch and also new music jams!
Today I'm about to discuss my top picks of everything I adore with the September month, so without further ado let's start.

September Faves [kinda late] :

37th Manila International Book Fair

If you read my blog about my experience in this event, You knew that this event is one of my most anticipated event of the year, well as a bookworm this event is huge and must-go event. It is an annual event that usually held on September, and this year's even was my first time, and definitely will not be the last! Its so fun, exciting and amazing experience, I will be attending next year and their future book related events.

September's Book Haul

On the event I bought books that I am dying to have, and finally I have it! Now I am absolutely ready to read them. I believe that books are the cheapest (or maybe not) way to travel, it really does brings me to a whole new world, it is a journey in literature form.   I bought Ransom Riggs' Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children, the award-wining novel by Benjamin Alire Saenz "Aristotle and Dante discovers the secrets of the universe", a New York Times Best-Selling novel "Passenger" by the NYT best-selling author Alexandra Bracken, and also the New York Time best-selling manga Tokyo Ghoul volume 1 by Sui Ishida.
I finished reading Miss Peregrine's Home for peculiar children and I LOVE IT SO MUCH! This book is my fave Book of the Month, and I will be posting a separate book review for this, CAN'T WAIT!. I also read Tokyo Ghoul volume 1 and I also adore it, it gives me the feels that I am holding a pure work of contemporary art, and the drawings are great. It is my first manga, but its a good start to the world of Manga.

Tim Burton's Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

(Spoiler-free Movie Review)

Upon reading the book, I am so excited to watch it on the big screen, and it gave me more hype because the Tim Burton the Director the movie, so whenever I finished the book I head to my nearest theater and watch the movie. First of all I knew that films and books are different, they uses different way on taking us to the flow of the story, and I am expecting that If its not totally the same with the book, it will not be taking leaps beyond the plot of the book. I trust Tim Burton that it will do a great job on making the story and the characters comes to life because it is Tim Burton!
As I read the book I have some issues on the movie. For me the movie quite missing on something, the lack of portraying the character of Jacob played by Asa Butterfield the first 20 mins of the movie was sorta light, the part when Jacob and his grandfather are talking on the phone I don't feel the strong connection with them, in the book [sorry for comparing] Jacob and his grandfather has this strong connection to each other that I really don't see in the movie. I love the part when Jacob meet the children for the first time and the house was so great it was I pictured when I am reading the book, and when they met the other children, I was about to shout I was like "WOAH THEY ARE ALIVE AND I AM WATCHING THEM RIGHT NOW" okay that was quite over reacting but I can't help it. I have another issue with characters in the movie which will spoil you if I tell you so I better not to, I will be posting another blog about it.
Lastly, on my opinion Tim Burton kinda missed the plot of the book which leads me to disappointment but it is his adaptation of the book, so overall the movie was great, Tim Burton did a great job, I just hoped that it will be same with the flow in book, but as I said the movie was great.

Perfect Illusion Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga announced last August 2016 that she will be releasing a new music entitled "Perfect Illusion" she announced it on her social media accounts, that gave hype to the whole world, because its been 3 years since the last time she released her solo music tracks.
This track is one of the reason why I am really excited for September, and when I first heard it, it gave me shivers to my spine, first I was disappointed on the outcome of it like it somehow different with her passed music tunes but as I played it again and again I started to appreciate it and it is great! The music, instrumentals, her voice, and even the music video everything was lit, because its LADY GAGA. It is my pick for the September's Track of the Month. Lady Gaga was acclaimed to be "New Queen of Pop" and I personally agree, This new music will give birth to a new era of music, I can assure you that! I just cant wait to hear her new album Joanne which will be out on October 21!

This Town Niall Horan

"This Town" is a debut song of Niall Horan, member of One Direction. I know how it feels, I am a fan of One Direction and the first time I saw the news I about, I freaked out. He didn't announced it, there is no news about it, he just drop it last September 29, 2016, so I was shocked when he released it.
I played it for the first time and his voice is really good, the lyrics and messages of the song is just pure and strong. It hits me. Well I am really proud of you Niall Horan, but please do come back as whole One Direction next year.

And that's all for today, Thank you for reading my blog. Hope you all have a great month of October! See you again on my next blog.

37th Manila International Book Fair Experience

37th Manila International Book Fair Experience

Hey Guys! Watdheckk it's Glen,

It is another time of the year, when every bookworms in Manila comes together to this yearly event. The Manila International Book Fair. MIBF is an annual event that usually on the month of September, it showcase newly published books, authors, DISCOUNTS ON BOOKS, Hard to find titles and so much more everything about literature. This year they held the 37th year of annual bookworm's tradition from September 14-18, 2016.

My cousin, Aika and I went on the 3rd Day of the event September 16, 2016. We were so excited we went at the venue early, we're afraid that the books might run out of stocks, and I am glad that didn't happen. We're at the gate and I can already see books, it made me more excited and then the moment has come we enter the venue! There were plenty of exhibitors at the events that offers different variety of books, magazines, and merchandise. We have chosen Fully Booked to shop for our books because Fully Booked is far most my favorite local bookshop, they never fail to give the books that you're looking for! Personally I preferred hardcover version of books and FullyBooked always have it, their bookshop is very convenient and their friendly, so if you buy books for a living and you're from Philippines I recommend you to shop your next reads at Fully Booked.
At the event, Fully Booked have tons of titles to offer, from paperback versions to hardcovers that ranging from Young adults, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Romance, Graphic Novels, Classics and even Self-help books. They really offer tons of choices and it came to the point that I cannot choice which books will end up on my bill. They offer 20% off on every books on the shelves, and although it's much cheaper that the original price I didn't had the chance to buy all the books on my bucketlist because unfortunately my money wasn't enough yet I am beyond happy on the books I have bought.

Here's a picture of books that me and my cousin bought at the event.
She bought; "Landline" by the best-selling and award-winning author Rainbow Rowell, best-selling novel "These Broken Stars" by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner, and last but definitely not the least "Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes" by an award-winning, best-selling, and critically acclaimed author THE RICK RIORDON with illustrations by John Rocco.

And here's what I bought.
Finally! Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar children is now on my hands! I am excited to read this book and planned a long time ago to buy it, finally I got it. I also bought the award-wining novel by Benjamin Alire Saenz "Aristotle and Dante discovers the secrets of the universe", a New York Times Best-Selling novel "Passenger" by the NYT best-selling author Alexandra Bracken, and also the New York Time best-selling manga Tokyo Ghoul volume 1 by Sui Ishida.
It really was a great experience, I was happy the whole time I was at the event. Had the best time of my life, before it was just my dream to attend Manila International Book fair and I am glad I had the opportunity to attend this huge event to celebrate Literature. Another accomplishment on my bucketlist!
It was my first MIBF and definitely will not be the last, I will go again next year and every Book fair they will held. This will be the start of my annual tradition. Thank you to event's managers and staffs and Thank you Fully Booked. See you again next year MIBF!
